This page summarizes how cancellations, transfers, credits, and refunds work at Carolina Connections School of Real Estate (NCREC Provider #1853). The full policy is set out in our Policies & Procedures Disclosure; this page reproduces the parts most relevant to payment and is part of our Terms of Service by reference.
At a glance
In most cases, the School works with students by issuing a class credit toward a future enrollment rather than a cash refund. Specifics:
- Cancel at least 48 hours before your course start: full class credit toward a future enrollment within 180 days, or a cash refund of tuition less a $75 cancellation fee, your choice.
- Cancel less than 48 hours before the start: the School may, at the Education Director's discretion, issue a class credit toward a future enrollment within 180 days. No cash refund.
- Withdraw after a course has started, or fail to meet attendance requirements: no cash refund. You may re-enroll in the same course within 180 days for a reduced tuition fee of $150.
- The Online Processing Fee (2.9% + $0.30 added at checkout) is never refundable. Stripe retains it on every transaction regardless of outcome.
1. Class credit is the default remedy
The School's preferred approach is to keep students moving forward. If you can't make a class you've registered for, the simplest path is to receive a class credit toward a future enrollment within 180 days. Most cancellations are resolved this way. Reach out to the Education Director early and we'll work it out.
2. How class credits work
When a credit is issued, it lives on file under the email address you used to enroll. The next time you register for any class on the website using that same email address, the credit applies automatically at checkout. There is no code to enter and no link to keep track of.
A few specifics:
- Credits expire 180 days from the date they are issued unless a different period is set when the credit is granted.
- Credits apply only to tuition. The Online Processing Fee (2.9% + $0.30) is recalculated on the after-credit balance and is not covered by the credit.
- Multiple credits are applied oldest-first. Any unused balance stays on file for use at a future enrollment within the original expiry period.
- Our payment processor (Stripe) requires a $0.50 minimum charge per transaction. If your credit balance covers the entire tuition, the checkout will collect a $0.50 residual on the tuition line plus the Online Processing Fee. The remaining credit (the portion above the residual) stays on file for a future enrollment.
- Credits are non-transferable. They are tied to the email address that paid for the original class.
If a class paid with credit is later refunded in full, the credit is automatically restored to your account with its original expiry date. Partial refunds do not restore credit.
3. Cash refunds (limited)
For all in-person and online synchronous courses, you may request a cash refund only if you cancel at least 48 hours before the scheduled course start date. We will refund tuition paid to the School minus a $75 cancellation fee. There are no cash refunds for cancellations made less than 48 hours before the start, and no refunds on returned books or course materials.
To request a refund, email Angel@carolina-connections.com before the 48-hour window closes. Approved refunds are processed back to the original card through Stripe and typically take 5 to 10 business days to appear on your statement.
4. Transfers between sessions
You may request to transfer your enrollment to a later session, with approval from the Education Director, before the start of the original course. Transfers are typically not allowed once a course has started, due to attendance requirements. There is no fee for an approved transfer.
5. School-initiated cancellations or rescheduling
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a course as needed. If we do:
- You will receive at least 1 hour of notice and continued communication about scheduling options.
- If we reschedule by more than 15 days from the originally advertised start date, you may transfer to another session or request a full cash refund (less the non-refundable Online Processing Fee) within 5 days of receiving the change notice.
6. Withdrawal after a course has started
A student who withdraws from a course after it has begun, or who fails to meet attendance requirements, is not entitled to a cash refund of any portion of tuition. You may re-enroll in a future session of the same course within 180 days of your last attended date for a one-time reduced tuition fee of $150 (see Section 7).
7. Re-enrollment within 180 days
Anyone unable to complete a course, for any reason, may enroll in a future course within 180 days of their last attended date for a one-time reduced tuition fee of $150. Attendance credit and tuition credit are not transferable after a student has started a course.
8. Online Processing Fee
The 2.9% + $0.30 Online Processing Fee added at checkout is paid to Stripe and is never refunded by the School. Stripe retains this fee on every transaction. Where the School issues a refund, the refund is calculated on the tuition amount only. The fee is also not covered by class credits.
9. Books and course materials
Refunds and credits do not apply to returned books, manuals, or printed materials. The NC Real Estate Manual purchased separately through ncrec.gov or a third party is subject to that vendor's refund policy.
10. How to request a credit or refund
Email Angel@carolina-connections.com with:
- Your full legal name and NC real estate license number
- The email address you used to enroll
- The course title and session date you enrolled in
- The reason for the cancellation request
We respond within 3 business days. The Education Director may grant or deny credits and refunds based on the circumstances and these policies.
11. Per-course exceptions
Some courses may have specific cancellation terms set out at the time of enrollment that override the defaults on this page. Where that's the case, the course-specific terms apply.
12. Disputes
If you have a concern about a charge or refund decision, please contact us first. If we can't resolve it together, you may also contact your card issuer or, for matters relating to the School's compliance with NCREC rules, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission at ncrec.gov.
